...When the flowers announced their intention to write a book about their lives I was surprised. Not that I had any doubt about their ability to tell interesting stories, quite the contrary. But I knew about the independent and proud, sometimes even obstinate and vain character of my beloved creatures very well. What were they prepared to do, say or reveal in order to realize their dream? Narrated by each individual flower in a spirit of complete openness, aimed at achieving a form of immortality, what would these stories be like? I couldn't interfere, I had to leave them to work alone. They presented me with the finished project in less than two years. They'd done a marvellous job and I was really excited.
